Auto Insurance Protects

Wed, 11/25/2009 - 19:23 | ralph

Buying auto insurance is very necessary. In the event of car damage or accident, the auto insurance will protect the owner from high expenses in getting the car repaired or some property which has been damaged or the other car involved in the collision. Most states and most countries have made auto insurance compulsory for drivers and car owners.

There are different types of auto insurance and they depend on the country you live in or the state where you are residing. You can buy auto insurance for full coverage. This involves the full coverage of payment done by the insurance company of your car, and other damaged cars or property due to the accident. Finance companies insist that their clients, who have taken car loans from them, should insure the cars fully. In such cases the car is owned by the bank where the loan is taken and it is the property of the financial institution till the full loan is paid off.

You can buy a third party auto insurance also. This type of insurance will protect the other party in the event of an accident or mishap. This will pay the expenses of the other car involved in the accident but the owner has to pay for the damages to his car himself. This third party insurance is cheaper than the full coverage auto insurance. You can also buy auto insurance against theft, fire and the like. In some places auto insurance may cover the damages to the people traveling in the car also without regard to whose fault it is.

In the United States auto insurance is compulsory though its enforcement depends upon the state. New Hampshire does not expect motorists to carry liability insurance while Virginia State expects people to pay the state a $500 if they do not have auto insurance. There are penalties issued if auto instance is not bought and this depends and varies from state to state. North Carolina insists that the driver holds a liability insurance before a license can be issued to him.

In Canada there is a public auto insurance system in some provinces like British Columbia, Manitoba, Quebec and others. However basic auto insurance has to be bought throughout Canada and the provinces decide the benefits. The premium to be paid depends on the type of insurance bought, the amount of insurance cover and the state or the country one resides in and drives the vehicle.
